The Jaylon business was founded in 1946 as ‘J & L Plastics’, which manufactured a small range of soft plastic products. At the time, plastic was a relatively new material and the plastics industry for commercial applications was in its infancy.

Over the next half-century, the business expanded to meet the increasing market demand for fabricated sheet plastic products. A diverse product range developed, including items supplied to the hospital, nursery, horticulture, stationery, packaging, mining and industrial markets.

In 1989 the company relocated to a 4,000m2 purpose-built factory in Malaga, Western Australia, where manufacturing facilities were modernised and expanded.

In 1992 a subsidiary company, Jaylon Environmental Systems, was formed to fabricate, and install geomembranes and other geosynthetic products for mining and civil engineering applications including fluid containment, landfill liners and caps, heap leach pads, floating covers and flume liners.

In 2001 the Jaylon Group established a Brisbane office and factory in Brendale, giving the business the ability to meet customer requirements in all parts of Australia and offshore.

Through the 2000’s, Jaylon continued to develop its focus on the market for tarpaulins supplied to grain handlers throughout Australia through the provision of a turn-key service to customers. Jaylon is now one of Australia’s leading suppliers to this industry, and has also developed several export markets — particularly in the Middle East.

A recent business development is the entry by Jaylon into the polyethylene and PVC underground ventilation ducting market. This flexible ducting is supplied to civil engineering and mining companies for use in conjunction with ventilation fans utilised in underground hard-rock and coal mining operations, as well as during the construction phase of tunnel projects.
