WPPL (WBHO & Piacentini JV) awards Jaylon the Pinjarra RSA 10 Lining Contract.

A tailings dam is being constructed for Alcoa Australia. Its purpose is for the storage of bauxite residue from Alcoa's alumina production process. This sizeable dam is approx 95 hectares or 952,000m², of a tri layer composite lining system. Due to the shortage of suitable clay in the area to allow the construction of a compacted clay liner, a composite lining system was designed, comprising of a primary layer of 1.5mm double sided texturedHDPE, a middle layer of GCL and a secondary layer of 1.5mm double sided textured HDPE to be installed. The stringent standards demanded of Alcoa and a tight timeframe for the construction of the composite liner meant for considerable pressure being placed on the lining contractors. Jaylon Environmental Systems was initially contracted to install 30 Ha or 300,000m² of the composite liner but this is set to increase due to excellent performance to date in all areas of safety, production, QA/QC and environmental management .
